Engineering & SME company, specialising in multi-sensory spaces

Founded in 2015, DU IT is a Florence-based, innovative startup specializing in the research and designing of therapeutic multisensory systems and spaces featuring integrated assisting technologies.

The initial aim was to design spaces for those who have cognitive disabilities, such as severe dementia or autism, therefore spaces for regulation and re-balancing of the senses. Nowadays, DU IT is also an engineering company specializing in the design and implementation of inclusive wellness spaces and solutions for all people.

The Founders

Architect Lorenzo Romualdi

Founder of Studio Romualdi & CO (2001), Lorenzo specializes in architecture, interior design and building redevelopment. He acquired plenty of experience in Snoezelen spaces, beginning with the design of the ANFFAS Sensory Room in Florence (2011), and he later founded DU IT with Elena Bellini, creating a new concept of sensory design.

Architect Ph.D. Elena Bellini

Architect, with a PhD in Architecture Technology in Sensory Design for Autism as well as a post-doc at DIDA-UniFi in Socio-Health Construction. Contract Professor at iCad – International Course of Architectural Design (DIDA-UniFi). She started working with Lorenzo Romualdi in 2012, designing spaces for caregiving and living, and later founded DU IT, specializing in design and research (partly in collaboration with DIDA-UniFi).

Our Partners

DU IT integrates architecture, psychology and applied technology for customized solutions. Design and implementation of new sensory solutions (together with psychologists and psychotherapists) to develop therapeutic projects, but also close collaborations with professionals and technicians specializing in the provision and management of software and home automation technology. Each design product recommended by DU IT is unique, personalized and made in collaboration with local artisans and partners.
